Robotic Knee Replacement Surgery in Varanasi

“Having the technology is the easy part. Using it to plan every knee differently is not.”

Dr. Unmesh operates with the MISSO robotic system - a fully active surgical robot, meaning it doesn't just guide the surgeon's hand. It executes the plan he sets, to an accuracy measured in fractions of a millimetre, with him in control at every second.

The software builds a 3D model, proposes implant size and alignment, and Dr. Unmesh settles every detail on screen before surgery, then checks it against your knee, live, and adjusts if it needs to change.

Joint replacement surgery robot

Built around your anatomy

Shape, alignment, the way it moves - every knee is different. Yours is planned in full before any bone is cut, around your anatomy rather than an average one.

Precision you can measure

Alignment and ligament balance are read as real numbers during surgery, not judged by feel. Fewer alignment errors, better balance, only the bone that's needed removed.

A recovery that starts sooner

A smaller incision and less blood loss mean many patients stand within hours of surgery and go home earlier.

Been told you need a knee replacement?

Get a second opinion first.

Two kinds of patients come here for a second opinion: those told they need a joint replacement and unsure about it, and those who've already had one and are still in pain. Both get a straight answer - including when that answer is that you don't need an operation yet.

Patient Stories

Patients, in their own words.

The most useful thing you can do before deciding on surgery is hear from someone who has already had it. These are patients talking about their own recovery, in their own words.

Nineteen years of knees, hips, shoulders and fractures - replacements, revisions, keyhole repairs and trauma. Different patients, different joints, different reasons for walking through the door. What stays the same is that each one is assessed on its own terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a consultation cost, and how long does it take?

A first consultation is ₹«amount» and takes about «20–30» minutes. Bring your X-rays or MRI, previous prescriptions, and a list of your current medicines. If you have reports on your phone, that is fine.

Do you accept cashless treatment and insurance?

Yes. Oriana Hospital is empanelled with «list TPAs / cashless insurers / Ayushman Bharat / CGHS status». Our front office will verify your policy and complete the pre-authorisation before admission. Call 84001 24040 to check your cover.

Do I really need a knee replacement, or can I avoid it?

Many patients can delay or avoid it. Physiotherapy, injections, PRP, weight management or a joint-preserving osteotomy work well in early and moderate arthritis. Replacement is discussed when pain limits your daily life and other options have genuinely been tried. We will tell you honestly which stage you are at.

Is robotic knee replacement more expensive?

Robotic-assisted surgery costs more than conventional replacement because of the planning and technology involved. We will give you a clear, itemised estimate before you decide, and explain where it does and does not make a difference for your specific knee.

How soon will I walk after knee replacement?

Most patients stand and take supported steps within hours of surgery. Walking with a stick usually follows in the first few days, and most people manage stairs and daily activities within four to six weeks. Full recovery continues for several months.

My knee still hurts after a replacement done elsewhere. Can you help?

Yes. Revision surgery for painful, loose or infected previous replacements is one of Dr. Unmesh's core areas. Bring your operative notes and all X-rays from before and after the original surgery. Send them on WhatsApp beforehand if it helps.

Can I get a second opinion without travelling to Varanasi?

Yes. Send your reports and scans on WhatsApp and we will arrange a paid online consultation. Many revision and complex-trauma patients start this way from across Purvanchal and Bihar.

Which languages do you consult in?

Hindi, Bhojpuri and English.
